乙酰輔酶A是乙;惺,可以看作是活化了的乙酸。 基團(tuán) (CH3CO- = 乙酰基)與輔酶A的半胱氨酸殘基的SH-基團(tuán)相連。這其實(shí)是高能鍵硫酯鍵。它是脂肪酸的beta-氧化及糖酵解后產(chǎn)生的丙酮酸氧化脫羧的產(chǎn)物。在許多代謝過程中,如:三羧酸循環(huán)、脂肪酸氧化、脂肪酸合成過程中,起著關(guān)鍵的作用。
在三羧酸循環(huán)的第一步,乙;D(zhuǎn)移到草酰乙酸中,生成檸檬酸。循環(huán)也叫檸檬酸循環(huán)。

Biochem/physiol Actions:Acetyl-CoA is an essential cofactor and carrier of acyl groups in enzymatic acetyl transfer reactions. It is formed either by the oxidative decarboxylation of pyruvate in mitochondria, by the oxidation of long-chain fatty acids, or by the oxidative degradation of certain amino acids. It is a key precursor in lipid biosynthesis, and the source of all fatty acid carbons. It is a positive regulator of pyruvate carboxylase. It is a precursor of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.
